OUGD503 FEVER TREE - DEVELOPMENT & DECISIONS

There has been a lot of confusion over the outcome for the Fever Tree YCN brief. For most of the time whilst producing work for this brief, I thought I had to produce a wrap design for a bottle, to cover the visible glass areas with the label stuck on top, however there was no net for the bottle itself and I found myself stuck in a rut not knowing what to produce as there are no sizings. However, in a chance conversation with a peer who was also doing the same brief, they said that they were producing a background pattern for the label itself, where the design they were producing simply replaces the tree that's already there. So these designs were produced which followed a more structured layout, fitting within a box, a similar shape to the final label.

Using the original photographs of one building from each country, I traced each image using the pen tool much simpler, so that they will be clear on a smaller scale.

The label designs are a result of this development. However, talking to more peers and looking into past and this years entries, it is becoming clear that it is actually a wrap design for the whole bottle, as we can change the label, but the typefaces and structure of the label must stay the same.
This is becoming a very challenging brief, one which isn't clear what exactly is being asked of you, and is therefore taking a lot longer to complete than is necessary if the brief was clearer.
