OUGD503 SECRET 7 - IDEA GENERATION

Listening to the tracks and writing down some key lyrics was a really great way to gain inspiration for ideas, as the imagery within a song is a great starting point. The song itself also inspired some ideas, the music without lyrics, the beat, as this can create all kinds of images, whether it's upbeat or sad or anything else. Drawing in response to the music also created some interesting more abstract ideas, which may be interesting if produced using colourful medias such as watercolour paints or inks, something more loose rather than pens.
It was quite a challenge to come up with ideas for the Max Richter Dream 3 track, as there are no lyrics, however this meant I had to become more imaginative and think about where this song would be played, what context it would exist in, what the artist was thinking of, imagining, when creating this track, which resulted in much more imaginative results than the other two tracks, which tell you what the track is about in the lyrics.

CHVRCHES - Clearest Blue lyrics and initial ideas.

Max Richter - Dream 3 lyrics and initial ideas.

Following on from these initial ideas and drawings, initial sketches will be produced for each track in colour, to get an idea of what some of these ideas will look like, and whether they work or not. This will help to narrow down which one track ideas will be developed for.
