Following on from previous pattern designs, the decision was made that more colour needed to be injected to give the patterns more detail and pizzaz. The colours were taken from both the colours of the flag for each country, but also the colours of the country itself, for example the Indonesian design was green because Indonesia has a lot of vegetation filled islands, and the flag is red and white, and two of the other designs are red shades, so this would create imbalance.

Experimenting with different layouts of the illustration, to see which would produce the most even and aesthetically pleasing pattern. |
This was determined the most effective pattern layout, as it made the best use of space and creates a balanced pattern. |
For China, two pattern layouts were created, again to see which worked most effectively and made the best use of space.
This was the final chosen pattern layout as it was determined this used the best use of space, and didn't look too structured and formulated, as the patterns should have a sense of naturalness to them, rather than looking forced. |
Thought they looked a bit too much like tie fighters off Star Wars. |
The lighter upside down Taj Mahal makes it look more like a reflection in water. |
Making the gap between the right way up and upside down Taj Mahal's makes them look less like tie fighters, and more like a pattern, with even distribution of space around each illustration. |
Label incorporation:
These patterns were applied to the current Fever Tree label, to see how they would look on a label with text and other imagery, to see if they would actually work or look too complicated.
Label. produced using the guidelines provided in the Project Pack. |
The pattern has to have a reduced opacity otherwise the text won't be able to be read. This way the pattern and detail can still be seen, but not be as imposing and the text can still be read clearly. |
The opacity on the white label isn't high enough, so that pattern is too dark against the text, making it not as easily readable as it should be. This is something to watch out for with the other patterns as well. |
Here you can see the pattern extending past the label, which could work nicely as a pattern wrap for the whole bottle. |
The coloured patterns work a lot nicer than the orange ones, as they give a real sense of the country they're representing, and look a lot more individual and personal than they would do if they were all one colour.
