OUGD503 GOAT COLLECTIVE DISPOSABLE SOCIETY OUTCOME

For this competition brief I didn't want to spend a lot of time on it at all, after being inspired by the rapidity of the appropriation & subversion study task, I wanted to think of an idea and produce it straight away, which is what happened with this being produced in an evening. This has resulted in an imperfect outcome, one which could be developed but it's roughness compliments the aesthetic, with lots of images overlapping and all being on top of each other. I used magazine clippings to produce this outcome, which is making use of already read magazines instead of just throwing them away.
The theme of this outcome is that fashion and clothes are produced nowadays to last a season, not for years to come. Styles come in and out of date, and a large amount of people wouldn't dare to be seen wearing last years trends. This results in clothes being taken to charity shops or shoved to the back of a wardrobe way before they have lived up to their potential.
For the choice of clothing to be shown, I chose ELLE Magazine, a leading fashion magazine, which shows the latest trends on and off the catwalk. This highlights the most 'fashionable' clothing, which is more likely to go out of date sooner than on the high street clothing.
The text is also taken from magazines, and bold, mostly uppercase letterforms have been chosen, to stand out against the busy background, but also to match with the collage effect. I also chose more heavy weighted sans serif letterforms to produce a more shouty, angry appearance, as if this is in protest.

Final outcome.
